Clinical Overview
Chronic Fatigue is a profound, unrelenting exhaustion that is not relieved by rest and is not directly caused by another medical condition. Ayurveda identifies this as severe Ojo Kshaya (loss of vital immunity) or Mansika Klama (mental exhaustion), often complicated by deep-seated Ama (toxins) blocking nutrient flow. Our approach is a careful balance of first clearing the blockages (Ama Pachana) and then deeply nourishing the tissues (Rasayana) to restore sustainable cellular energy.
Emergency Warning Signs
Seek immediate conventional medical care if you experience any of the following:
- Fatigue accompanied by unexplained weight loss or night sweats
- Fatigue with severe shortness of breath or chest pain
- Sudden onset of severe fatigue in an otherwise healthy older adult
Symptomatology
Fatigue
Clinical manifestation characterized by fatigue. Ayurvedic assessment involves evaluating the specific Dosha and Srotas involvement underlying this symptom.
Pain
Clinical manifestation characterized by pain. Ayurvedic assessment involves evaluating the specific Dosha and Srotas involvement underlying this symptom.
Diagnostic Protocol
Ayurvedic Assessment
Detailed Ashtavidha Pariksha (eight-fold examination), focusing heavily on Agni (digestion) and Ojas (vitality) evaluation.

Classical Perspective
Samprapti (Pathogenesis)
Two pathways exist: 1) Avarana (blockage) where Ama blocks the Rasavaha Srotas, preventing nutrients from reaching the tissues, leading to lethargy and heaviness. 2) Dhatu Kshaya (depletion) where chronic stress burns through the tissues, destroying Ojas, leading to frailty and exhaustion. Accurate diagnosis determines whether to detoxify first or nourish immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I feel worse when I try to exercise to gain energy?
In true chronic fatigue (especially post-viral or burnout), your Ojas is severely depleted. Vigorous exercise requires energy you don't have, leading to a severe 'crash' (Post-Exertional Malaise). Ayurveda recommends strictly restorative therapies and Rasayana herbs first to rebuild the energy bank before you start spending it on exercise.
