Clinical Overview

SI joint dysfunction causes lower back and pelvic pain due to abnormal motion in the sacroiliac joint. In Ayurveda, the pelvic girdle is the primary seat of Apana Vata. Imbalance here causes radiating pain and instability. We adapt our signature Kati Basti to target the SI joint specifically, using deep-penetrating Vata-pacifying oils combined with therapeutic enemas (Basti) to reset the pelvic Vata.

Emergency Warning Signs

Seek immediate conventional medical care if you experience any of the following:

Classical Perspective

Samprapti (Pathogenesis)

Vitiated Vata localizes in the spine (Prishta/Kati/Greeva), drying up the Kapha that cushions the vertebrae. This leads to friction, disc desiccation, space narrowing, and eventual nerve compression.

Dhatu

Asthi, Majja, Mamsa, Snayu

Srotas

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Ayurveda treat a herniated disc without surgery?

Yes, in many cases. Our therapy-first approach uses Kati/Greeva Basti to intensely lubricate the area, reduce localized inflammation, and relax the spasms causing the compression. This creates an environment for the disc to naturally heal and retract, often avoiding the need for surgery.
