Dietary Protocol

Abhyantara Snehana (Internal Lubrication)
in Bengaluru

Abhyantara Snehana is a broader category of internal oleation where small, manageable doses of medicated oils or ghees are incorporated into daily life or diet, serving as a palliative (Shamana) therapy rather than an aggressive detox preparation.

Clinical Benefits

  • Provides daily nourishment to the nervous system and brain
  • Relieves systemic dryness, dry skin, and hard stools
  • Pacifies Vata and Pitta doshas gently over time
  • Improves joint lubrication and flexibility

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Assessment of the patient's digestive fire to determine the right fat (ghee, sesame oil, marrow, or fat).

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

Small doses (10-15ml) of medicated ghee or oil are prescribed to be taken either with food, just before food, or at bedtime with warm milk or water.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • Avoiding cold drinks and cold foods to prevent the fat from solidifying and causing sluggishness.

Patient FAQs

How is this different from Snehapana?

Snehapana uses massive, increasing doses of ghee on an empty stomach to force toxins out of tissues for Panchakarma. Abhyantara Snehana uses small, dietary doses to gently nourish and heal the body over a longer period.
