Anna Lepa (Rice Paste Application)
in Bengaluru

Anna Lepa is a broader term for therapies involving the application of cooked rice pastes over the body or specific parts. It is closely related to Njavara Theppu, utilizing the profound nourishing and cooling properties of specific grains cooked in medicinal decoctions.

Clinical Benefits

  • Provides bulk and nourishment to wasted, emaciated limbs
  • Highly cooling and soothing for burning neuropathies or severe Pitta conditions in the skin
  • Improves skin luster and removes deep-seated heat
  • Calms the nervous system rapidly

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Medicinal rice is cooked into a thick porridge using specific herbal decoctions (like cooling herbs for Pitta, or strengthening herbs for Vata).

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

The paste is applied thickly over the required area. Unlike Theppu, it may simply be left as a pack rather than continuously massaged.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • Removed before it dries completely.
  • Washed off with lukewarm or cool water depending on the condition.

Patient FAQs

Yes, localized Anna Lepa therapies are highly "Brumhana" (nourishing/weight-promoting). They are excellent for individuals who are severely emaciated due to chronic disease or muscular dystrophy.
