Aschyotana (Ayurvedic Eye Drops)
in Bengaluru

Aschyotana is the administration of medicated liquids (herbal extracts, oils, or ghee) drop by drop into the open eyes. According to Ayurveda, it is the first line of treatment for all acute eye diseases.

Clinical Benefits

  • Provides immediate relief from eye strain, dryness, and itching
  • Clears mild conjunctival redness and irritation
  • Lubricates the cornea and improves tear film stability
  • A highly convenient and rapid intervention for computer vision syndrome

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • The specific medicated drops are prepared, warmed slightly, and sterilized.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

The patient lies supine. The therapist holds the eyelids open and instills a specific number of drops (usually 8-12) from a height of about two inches into the inner corner of the eye.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • The patient blinks a few times, then rests with eyes closed.
  • Excess liquid is wiped away.

Patient FAQs

Are these like regular over-the-counter eye drops?

While the method of instillation is similar, Aschyotana uses specialized Ayurvedic formulations (like Elaneer Kuzhambu or pure herbal juices) that have deeper therapeutic properties tailored to your specific dosha imbalance.
