Avagaha Sweda (Medicated Tub Bath)
in Bengaluru
Avagaha Sweda is a therapeutic tub bath or sitz bath where the patient sits in a large tub filled with warm, medicated liquids (herbal decoctions, warm oil, or medicated milk). It provides deep, relaxing heat to the entire pelvic region and lower back.
Clinical Benefits
- Instantly relieves severe pain from bleeding piles, fissures, and fistulas (Sitz bath style)
- Relaxes severe muscle spasms in the lower back and sciatica
- Soothes painful urination and pelvic pain in BPH and recurrent UTIs
- Provides full-body relaxation and reduces severe Vata (anxiety, stiffness)
Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • A large tub is filled with the prescribed warm liquid (e.g., Dashamoola Kashaya for pain, Triphala Kashaya for piles).
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The patient sits in the tub. For lower body issues (piles/prostate), the liquid covers up to the navel. For full-body issues, it covers up to the neck. The temperature is maintained continuously.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • Patient steps out, is wiped dry, and rests.
Patient FAQs
Is this just a warm bath?
Unlike water, the herbal decoctions contain active medicinal compounds that penetrate the skin through the heat, actively reducing inflammation in the prostate, rectum, or spine.
