Jaladhara (Medicated Water Pouring)
in Bengaluru

Jaladhara is a highly cooling therapy where medicated water (infused with herbs like Vetiver, Sandalwood, or Rose) is continuously poured over the forehead or body. It is an immediate intervention for sunstroke, extreme heat exhaustion, and sudden high Pitta aggravation.

Clinical Benefits

  • Provides instantaneous cooling to the brain and nervous system
  • Relieves heat exhaustion, sunstroke, and severe burning sensations
  • Calms acute mental agitation and stress
  • Helps lower body temperature in certain specific types of Pitta fever

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Water is boiled with cooling herbs (like Usheera/Vetiver or Chandana/Sandalwood) and cooled to room temperature.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

The cool herbal water is poured in a continuous, rhythmic stream over the forehead (Shiro Jaladhara) or the entire body.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • The body is gently wiped dry.
  • Patient must avoid any further exposure to extreme heat or direct sun.

Patient FAQs

Is this just pouring cold water on the head?

No, the water is not ice cold; it is room temperature and infused with highly specific cooling herbs that have a medicinal effect on the cranial nerves, drawing out deep-seated heat without shocking the system.
