Kala Basti is an intermediate-length Panchakarma course consisting of 15 enemas (9 Anuvasana/oil and 6 Niruha/decoction). It provides a deeper and more sustained detoxification and Vata pacification than Yoga Basti, intended for chronic and moderately severe diseases.

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Daily preparatory Abhyanga and Swedana.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

The enemas are given in an alternating pattern over 15 days: It starts with 1 oil enema, followed by alternating decoction and oil enemas (6 each), and ends with 2 continuous oil enemas. (Total 9 Oil, 6 Decoction).

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • A specialized post-detox diet and lifestyle regimen is mandatory.

Will I feel weak during a 15-day enema course?

You may feel temporarily fatigued as the body expends energy detoxifying, which is why strict rest and a specific easily digestible diet are mandatory during the course.
