Kashayadhara (Medicated Decoction Pouring)
in Bengaluru
Kashayadhara is a therapeutic procedure where warm, medicated herbal decoctions (Kashayas) are poured continuously over the body or a specific part. It is the premier treatment for inflammatory conditions, skin infections, and diseases where oil is contraindicated.
Clinical Benefits
- Powerfully anti-inflammatory, reducing acute joint swelling and pain
- Cleanses and heals chronic skin diseases with oozing or infections
- Removes deep-seated toxins (Ama) without adding heavy oils to the system
- Excellent for Kapha-Pitta dominant disorders
Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • A specific herbal decoction (like Triphala or Dashamoola Kashayam) is freshly brewed in large quantities and kept warm.
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The warm decoction is rhythmically poured over the body using a Kindi (special vessel) or cloths, often combined with a very light friction massage.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • The body is wiped dry immediately.
- • Patient must avoid exposing themselves to cold air.
Patient FAQs
Is this better than an oil massage for arthritis?
If you have Rheumatoid Arthritis (Amavata) with severe swelling, redness, and stiffness, oil massage can severely aggravate the condition. Kashayadhara provides heat and medicine to reduce the swelling without adding heavy oil, making it much safer and more effective for inflammatory arthritis.
