Ksheeradhara (Medicated Milk Pouring)
in Bengaluru
Ksheeradhara is a deeply nourishing and cooling therapy involving the continuous pouring of medicated cow's milk over the forehead or entire body. It is the treatment of choice for extreme Pitta-Vata imbalances, emaciation, and severe neurological burning sensations.
Clinical Benefits
- Deeply nourishes the nervous system and repairs nerve damage
- Relieves intense burning sensations in the body (e.g., peripheral neuropathy)
- Highly rejuvenating for severe exhaustion, burnout, and muscle wasting
- Calms the mind, treating severe insomnia and anxiety
Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • Cow's milk is boiled with cooling and nourishing herbs (like Sida cordifolia/Bala, Asparagus/Shatavari).
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The lukewarm medicated milk is rhythmically poured over the forehead (Shiro Ksheeradhara) or the whole body (Sarvanga Ksheeradhara) using a Dhara pot or specialized vessels.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • The body is wiped with a warm towel.
- • Patient takes a warm bath to remove the milk residue.
Patient FAQs
Is Ksheeradhara better than Shirodhara with oil?
Neither is "better"—they serve different purposes. Oil is used for severe Vata (dryness, stiffness, movement disorders). Milk (Ksheera) is used when there is high Pitta (burning, heat) combined with Vata, requiring both cooling and deep nourishment.
