Manya Basti (Neck Oil Pooling)
in Bengaluru
Manya Basti (often used interchangeably with Greeva Basti) involves pooling warm medicated oil over the cervical spine (nape of the neck). It is a highly specialized therapy for severe cervical spondylosis and neck stiffness.
Clinical Benefits
- Lubricates the cervical vertebrae, reducing friction and degeneration
- Relieves severe neck stiffness, muscle spasms, and "tech neck"
- Effectively treats nerve root compressions causing numbness in the arms
- Reduces cervicogenic headaches and dizziness (vertigo)
Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • Patient lies prone. A dough ring is fixed firmly over the cervical spine (C1-C7).
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
Warm oil (like Ksheerabala or Mahanarayana) is poured into the ring and retained. The temperature is maintained continuously for deep tissue penetration.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • Oil is removed, followed by gentle Greeva Abhyanga (neck massage) and steam.
Patient FAQs
Will this cure my cervical spondylosis?
While it cannot reverse bony changes, Manya Basti is one of the most effective non-surgical treatments to arrest further degeneration, restore mobility, and eliminate pain and numbness in the arms.
