Nabhi Basti (Umbilical Oil Pooling)
in Bengaluru

Nabhi Basti involves pooling warm medicated oil inside a dough ring placed specifically over the Nabhi (umbilicus/navel). In Ayurveda, the navel is the seat of Pitta and the epicenter of 72,000 subtle energy channels (Nadis).

Clinical Benefits

  • Stimulates the Solar Plexus, deeply improving digestion and absorption
  • Relieves irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic bloating, and gas
  • Alleviates severe menstrual cramps and pelvic congestion
  • Deeply grounds the nervous system and relieves anxiety

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Patient lies supine. A dough ring is fixed centering the navel.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

Warm oil (like Hingu Triguna or castor oil based formulations) is pooled inside the ring. The heat penetrates deeply into the mesenteric plexus.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • Oil is removed, followed by Udarabhyanga (gentle abdominal massage) in a clockwise direction.

Patient FAQs

How does oil on the belly button help digestion?

The navel is anatomically surrounded by a massive network of blood vessels and the enteric nervous system. The penetrating warmth of the specific herbal oils relaxes spasms in the gut wall, improving peristalsis and digestion.
