Netra Seka (also known as Parisheka for the eyes) is a continuous, gentle pouring of highly purified, medicated herbal decoctions over the closed or slightly opened eyelids. It is primarily used to cleanse the eyes of infections, allergens, and inflammatory discharge.

Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • A very dilute, perfectly filtered herbal decoction (often Triphala or Daruharidra) is prepared and cooled or slightly warmed depending on the dosha.
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The patient lies comfortably. The therapist gently pours the liquid in a continuous, thin stream from a specific height (about 2-3 inches) over the inner canthus, letting it flow out the outer corner of the eye.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • The eyes are gently patted dry with sterile cotton.
- • Patient must avoid dust, smoke, and bright light.
Patient FAQs
Does the liquid go inside the eye?
Yes, if the eyes are slightly open, the liquid washes the conjunctival sac. The decoctions are highly purified, isotonic, and specifically formulated to be safe and soothing for the delicate eye tissues.

Contraindications
- Corneal ulcers or severe penetrating eye injuries
- Immediately after modern eye surgeries (unless specifically advised)
- Extreme cold weather (if cooling herbs are used)
