Pada Abhyanga (Foot Massage)
in Bengaluru

Pada Abhyanga is an ancient Ayurvedic foot massage technique. In Ayurveda, the feet contain critical Marma (vital energy) points that connect to the entire nervous system and eyes. This therapy deeply grounds Vata dosha and promotes profound relaxation.

Clinical Benefits

  • Dramatically improves sleep quality and cures insomnia
  • Alleviates stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue
  • Improves vision and eye health by stimulating specific nerve endings
  • Reduces peripheral neuropathy symptoms and foot pain

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Feet are washed in warm water infused with herbs or rock salt.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

Warm oil or specialized ghee (like Ksheerabala or cow's ghee) is massaged into the soles, heels, and ankles using specific circular motions, often employing a Kansa Vatki (bronze bowl) to draw out excess heat.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • Excess oil is wiped off with a warm, damp towel.
  • Patient rests for a few minutes before walking.

Patient FAQs

Why use a bronze bowl (Kansa Vatki) for the foot massage?

Bronze (Kansa) is highly valued in Ayurveda for its ability to balance Pitta (heat). Massaging the feet with a bronze bowl actively draws out excess heat and acidity from the body, leading to deep relaxation and better sleep.
