Pindi (Eye Poultice Therapy)
in Bengaluru
Pindi is a soothing therapy where a small, soft poultice (cloth bolus) filled with specific herbal pastes is placed gently over closed eyelids. It is primarily used to draw out intense heat, swelling, and acute pain from the eyes.
Clinical Benefits
- Rapidly reduces periorbital edema (swelling around the eyes)
- Soothes intense burning, throbbing pain, and inflammation
- Excellent for acute conjunctivitis or trauma-induced swelling
- Provides a deep, cooling effect to the entire ocular region
Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • A paste of cooling herbs (like Amalaki, Chandana, or Aloe Vera) is tied inside a soft, sterile cotton cloth to form a small bolus.
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The patient lies down, and the poultice is placed gently over the closed eyelids. It is left in place, sometimes secured with a light bandage.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • The poultice is removed, and the eyes are gently washed with cool water.
Patient FAQs
Does the paste touch the eye?
No, the paste is contained within a soft cloth (poultice), and it is placed over the closed eyelid. The medicinal properties and cooling temperature penetrate through the thin eyelid skin.
