Pradeha (Warming Herbal Paste)
in Bengaluru
Pradeha is the opposite of Pralepa. It is a thick, warming (Ushna) herbal paste applied to treat Vata (pain/stiffness) and Kapha (swelling/heaviness) disorders. It is kept on the skin while warm and often allowed to stay longer.
Clinical Benefits
- Draws out cold stiffness and deep-seated pain in Osteoarthritis
- Reduces heavy, pitting edema (swelling) associated with Kapha dosha
- Relaxes severe muscular knots and cervical stiffness
- Improves local blood circulation to cold, numb areas
Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • Warming herbs (like Ginger, Mustard, Dashamoola, or Rasna) are boiled with sour liquids or oils to form a thick, hot paste.
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The hot paste is applied thickly over the stiff joint or muscle. The thickness retains the heat for a longer period.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • It may be covered or left open. It is removed once the heat dissipates or it begins to dry completely.
- • Washed off with warm water.
Patient FAQs
Can this cure my knee arthritis?
While it cannot reverse cartilage loss, Pradeha application (like Kottamchukkadi lepam) is highly effective at reducing the painful swelling and stiffness surrounding the knee, vastly improving mobility and quality of life.
