Panchakarma Protocol

Raktamokshana (Bloodletting - General)
in Bengaluru

Raktamokshana is the fifth primary procedure of Panchakarma, dedicated to the expulsion of vitiated blood (Rakta) and deep-seated Pitta toxins. It is the fastest and most effective way to treat severe, acute skin diseases, gout, and systemic inflammatory conditions.

Clinical Benefits

  • Instantly relieves severe itching, burning, and redness in chronic skin diseases
  • Dramatically reduces acute joint swelling and excruciating pain in Gout (Vatarakta)
  • Clears deep-seated toxins that do not respond to oral medications
  • Purifies the blood, improving skin complexion and preventing recurrent boils/abscesses

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • The patient undergoes mild internal oleation and localized heat.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

Raktamokshana is a broad category encompassing several methods: Leeches (Jalauka) for Pitta/blood issues, Venesection (Siravyadha) for systemic issues, Cupping (Alabu) for Kapha, or Horn/Scraping (Pracchanna).

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • Bleeding is stopped using specific astringent herbal powders and tight bandaging.
  • Patient must rest and take a very light, blood-building diet.

Patient FAQs

Is letting blood out safe?

When done by a qualified Ayurvedic surgeon after proper assessment of the patient's strength and blood levels, it is incredibly safe. The volume of blood removed is small and highly regulated.
