External Therapy Protocol
Tailadhara (Continuous Oil Pouring)
in Bengaluru
Tailadhara specifically refers to the pouring of warm medicated oils. When done on the head, it is synonymous with Shirodhara. When done over the whole body, it is a highly potent therapy (often called Pizhichil) used to treat severe Vata disorders, paralysis, and deep-seated joint degeneration.
Clinical Benefits
- The most powerful external therapy for pacifying Vata dosha
- Dramatically improves joint lubrication and muscle flexibility
- Highly effective in stroke rehabilitation and paralytic conditions
- Provides deep, penetrating heat and nourishment to the skeletal system
Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • Large quantities (several liters) of specific medicated oils (like Dhanwantaram or Mahanarayana) are heated.
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The warm oil is continuously poured over the affected part or the entire body from a specific height, accompanied by simultaneous gentle massage by two or more therapists.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • The excess oil is wiped off, and the patient must rest to absorb the heat and medicine.
- • Followed by a warm water bath.
Patient FAQs
Why is so much oil used?
In severe Vata disorders (like paralysis or severe osteoarthritis), the body is fundamentally dry and depleted. Continuous pouring of large amounts of warm oil allows for maximum transdermal absorption and deep tissue lubrication that a normal massage cannot achieve.
