External Therapy Protocol

Uro Basti (Chest Oil Pooling)
in Bengaluru

Uro Basti is a localized therapy where warm medicated oil is pooled over the chest/sternum region using a boundary of black gram dough. It is highly beneficial for strengthening the heart muscles, relieving respiratory congestion, and reducing severe anxiety.

Clinical Benefits

  • Strengthens the cardiac muscles and improves blood circulation
  • Relieves severe chest tightness associated with asthma and bronchitis
  • Calms palpitations and deep-seated emotional stress or grief
  • Relieves muscular pain in the sternal region (costochondritis)

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Patient lies supine. A circular boundary made of black gram (Urad dal) dough is fixed over the sternum.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

Warm medicated oil (like Dhanwantaram or Mahanarayana) is poured into the dough ring. The temperature is maintained by continuously replacing the cooling oil with warm oil.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • The oil and dough are removed.
  • A gentle massage is done over the chest, followed by mild steam.

Patient FAQs

Can Uro Basti prevent heart attacks?

Uro Basti strengthens the heart muscle, reduces stress, and improves local circulation. While it is an excellent preventive and supportive therapy for cardiovascular health, it does not replace emergency medical treatment for acute heart conditions.
