Utsadana (Paste Massage)
in Bengaluru

Utsadana is a variation of Udvartana (powder massage) where herbal powders are mixed with oils, milk, or ghee to form a paste before being rubbed into the body. While Udvartana is dry and fat-reducing, Utsadana is slightly oily, making it highly nourishing and complexion-enhancing.

Clinical Benefits

  • Deeply cleanses and exfoliates without drying out the skin
  • Significantly improves skin complexion, softness, and glow (Varnya)
  • Removes body odor and reduces excess sweating
  • Balances Vata and Kapha simultaneously

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • A paste is prepared using fragrant and complexion-enhancing herbs (like Sandalwood, Turmeric, Gram flour) mixed with a suitable oil or milk.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

The paste is rubbed all over the body in an upward direction (Pratiloma) with moderate pressure.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • The patient rests for 15 minutes, then takes a warm bath.

Patient FAQs

How is this different from Udvartana?

Udvartana uses dry powder to vigorously scrub and reduce fat (Kapha). Utsadana uses a wet, oily paste to gently scrub, nourish, and improve skin glow (Vata-Kapha).
