Varti (Medicated Suppository / Wick)

Varti is an Ayurvedic medicated suppository or wick. Depending on the condition, it is inserted into the rectum (Guda Varti) for constipation, the vagina (Yoni Varti) for gynecological issues, or into deep fistulas/wounds (Vrana Varti) to promote healing from the inside out.

Clinical Procedure
1. Preparation (Purvakarma)
- • Herbal powders are mixed with binders (like honey, jaggery, or ghee) and rolled into a smooth, cone-like or cylindrical shape, then dried in the shade.
2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)
The Varti is lubricated with ghee or oil and gently inserted into the specific orifice or wound tract.
3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)
- • The patient rests. For rectal Varti, the patient waits for the urge to defecate (usually within 15-30 minutes).
