Viddhakarma (Ayurvedic Micro-Puncturing)
in Bengaluru

Viddhakarma is an ancient Ayurvedic pain management technique where specific vital points (Marmas) or local pain points are swiftly punctured using a fine, sterile hollow needle (originally a sharp thorn or spine). It provides instant relief from severe, acute pain by releasing trapped Vata (gas/pressure).

Clinical Benefits

  • Provides magical, instantaneous relief from severe, shooting pain (like Sciatica or severe neck catch)
  • Highly effective for releasing deep muscle spasms in Frozen Shoulder and Spondylosis
  • Acts immediately to unblock energy and blood flow in the affected nerve pathways
  • Minimally invasive and virtually painless (feels like a tiny prick)

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • The exact anatomical point of pain (or corresponding Marma point) is identified by the physician.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

A sterile insulin needle (or specialized hollow needle) is swiftly inserted into the point and immediately withdrawn. A tiny drop of blood or trapped gas (Vata) is released.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • The point is pressed with a sterile cotton swab.
  • The patient is asked to move the joint to verify immediate pain relief.

Patient FAQs

Is this the same as Acupuncture?

They are similar in concept (stimulating specific points), but Viddhakarma uses a hollow needle to actually puncture and release trapped pressure (Vata/blood) instantly, whereas acupuncture uses solid needles left in place for energy flow.
