Surgical/Para-surgical Protocol

Vrana Ropana (Wound Healing)
in Bengaluru

Vrana Ropana is the second phase of Ayurvedic wound management. Once a wound is clean and free of infection, Ropana (healing/granulation) therapies are applied to rapidly build new tissue, close the wound, and minimize scarring.

Clinical Benefits

  • Accelerates tissue growth (granulation) in large, gaping wounds
  • Highly effective for closing clean diabetic ulcers and post-surgical wounds
  • Minimizes severe scarring and restores normal skin pigmentation (Savarnikarana)
  • Soothes the wound bed, eliminating pain

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Healing oils (like Jatyadi Taila) or ghee (like Jatyadi Ghrita) are prepared. Sweet, astringent, and cooling herbs are used.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

The clean wound is gently dressed with gauze soaked in the Ropana oil or ghee. Healing pastes may also be applied.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • The wound is bandaged appropriately to maintain a moist healing environment.

Patient FAQs

Why use ghee or oil on a wound?

Wounds heal fastest in a moist, nutrient-rich environment. Medicated ghee (like Jatyadi Ghrita) provides a perfect lipid barrier that prevents the dressing from sticking, provides massive nutrition to the new cells, and completely stops pain.
