Yoni Dhoopana (Vaginal Fumigation)
in Bengaluru

Yoni Dhoopana is a traditional therapeutic fumigation of the vaginal and perineal area using the smoke of specific antimicrobial and healing herbs. It is widely used in postpartum care and for treating chronic vaginal infections.

Clinical Benefits

  • Highly antimicrobial, clearing fungal and bacterial vaginal infections
  • Removes foul odor and relieves intense vaginal itching
  • Promotes rapid healing of episiotomy wounds and tears after childbirth (Postpartum care)
  • Dries up excessive, watery vaginal discharge

Clinical Procedure

1. Preparation (Purvakarma)

  • Specific dry herbs (like Turmeric, Guggulu, Neem, or Vacha) are placed on hot coals in a specialized fumigation pot with a narrow spout.

2. Main Action (Pradhana Karma)

The patient sits on a specially designed chair with a hole in the seat, or squats over the pot, allowing the warm, medicated smoke to bathe the perineum and enter the vaginal canal.

3. Post-Therapy (Paschatkarma)

  • The fumigation lasts for 5 to 10 minutes until the area feels warm and dry.

Patient FAQs

Does the smoke burn?

No, the distance from the heat source is carefully maintained. The patient feels a comfortable, soothing warmth. The resins used in the smoke (like Guggulu) are highly antibacterial and pain-relieving.
